Direct Excision: Surgery to Directly Remove Foreign Material
Direct Excision is an open surgical procedure to remove foreign material directly. It is suitable when the material has formed a clearly defined lump, is surrounded by fibrous tissue, or has caused a hard lump, deformity, or other symptoms that cannot be effectively treated with suction alone.
The physician will assess the lump’s location, size, and depth before planning the surgery, in order to choose an appropriate incision line and minimize scarring as much as possible. The goal is to remove the foreign material and abnormal fibrous tissue while preserving as much normal tissue as possible.

Skin deformity caused by the accumulation of foreign material

Important Information
Surgery will leave an incision scar, and the physician will plan the incision to suit each location.
Complete removal of all foreign material cannot be guaranteed 100% because the material may be dispersed throughout normal tissue. The surgery prioritizes safety and preserving as much tissue as possible.
