The procedure is performed under general anesthesia, with an incision made along the scalp in a headband-like line. Surgery takes approximately 2–3 hours, followed by one week of recovery.

To allow the implant to settle securely and look good, and to avoid tissue inflammation or impaired blood circulation, rest and avoid strenuous activity for 5–7 days.
Stitches can be removed about 2 weeks afterward.
For approximately 2–3 months, avoid strenuous exercise to prevent impact to the forehead and keep it from becoming misshapen.
